Wow…what a month! I am absolutely overjoyed as I sit here reflecting on all the Lord has done and continues to do here in Guatemala. He is good!

Here’s a summary of what our month looked like:

  • Team Changes! Meet my new team, the Raisins (aka our squad’s raised up leaders). Tay and I get the opportunity to step into leadership roles as our alumni squad leaders return to the states. What that has looked like so far…a lot of training, a lot of humbling moments, a lot of support from our squad-mates, a lot of God’s kindness, and a lot of sweet relationships being formed within our little family of world travelers
  • Time for ATL Month! On the race, ATL (ask the lord) means to submit your every day life to seeking the lord and learning how you can partner in the work he is already doing around you. More practically it means no plans, a little baby budget, and a whole lot of eager hearts ready to see God move.
  • Joining team Abide! What an absolute joy to live life with these people! I was able to join Abide for my first month of squad leader training and I could not have asked for a more supportive and courageous group! Forever grateful for these friends.
  • First stop, Spanish School! The Lord led our team straight to San Pedro Spanish School! And by that I mean through prayer, stalking strangers, following butterflies, and being supported by our friends and family’s incredible generosity, we decided the Lord was inviting us to spend time at the school. We were taught Spanish in one on one settings and also were able to live with a local family. It was tiring, exciting, discouraging, uplifting, we got sick…very sick, and yet, through the rollercoaster of an experience, God gave me the sweetest moments with my teacher. He doesn’t have a relationship with Christ, but he was kind enough to ask me questions about my faith, about what I was reading in the Bible, and even asked me to pray over him and others in his life. Seeds were planted! Keep watering them Lord!
  • Now back to Antigua! This ended up being pretty uneventful other than a lot of sick tummies stuck at home. We had planned on hiking Volcan Pacaya as a team but decided to cancel and give our bodies the rest they needed to heal up. Those who were feeling healthier were able lead worship in Parque Central and hand out flowers with sweet encouragements to visitors and locals walking the streets of Antigua.
  • Off to Chimaltenango for our last ministry opportunity! After working on our Spanish in San Pedro, we were even more equipped to help teach some English at Colegio Mesoamericano, a k-12 private school just outside of the city. It was a quick but very sweet time practicing English with these students.
  • One last Adventure! With our health back in functioning order we were able to book a last minute climb up Volcan Pacaya! It was absolutely stunning and such a gift to have a body ready to get outside again. We still have some sickness in the squad though so keep those healing prayers coming!
  • And time to start saying Goodbye to Guate… We got to spend the weekend debriefing our experience here in Guatemala and enjoying sweet time with our squad leaders before they left to go back to the states. We love you Chach and MK!

I love this place, I love these people, and I am so excited to keep living life with them all across the globe. Time to start making our way to Romania!

Thanks for all you’ve done here God!
