Holy Spirit is so kind, forgiving, and patient in working with my team. We all come in with different beliefs about Holy Spirit’s partnership with man, but somehow are able to step into this journey of discovery together and find faith powerful enough to partner with Holy Spirit in kingdom work. As we struggle our way through exploring and testing Holy Spirit’s power, I just am so thankful for the grace we are given in this messy path of discovery.
This past week my team had an epiphany that we weren’t being very intentional with inviting God into our interactions. So, heading into our first home visit we asked Holy Spirit to fill us, to fill the environment and to control the conversation. As one person spoke, many of us that were not currently in the conversation would be interceding in prayer for the fruitfulness of conversation and relationship. What a difference that made! Holy Spirit moved! And he even allowed us to be part of it. One person would have scripture come to mind, one person would bond with our host, one person would share a powerful testimony, and on and on it went. What a joy to be a part of!
God didn’t stop there though. The following days were full of reconciliation, salvations, and so much love. From a neighborhood of people hungry to know more about God to a meal shared amongst new friends, God’s love was so evident and Holy Spirit won many hearts. We were filled with life, filled with hope, and filled with excitement for what is to come.
As we continue to search for the truth of God, the truth of how we are to partner with Holy Spirit in kingdom work, we ask for discernment, for wisdom, for hunger, for courage, and for faith. We so badly want to do this in a way that is honoring to God, healthy for those we interact with, and reflective of who God is. But, that is much easier said than done. We’ve seen approaches to gospel spreading that feel off, we’ve overlooked opportunities, we’ve frozen in conversation, and we’ve definitely messed up along the way. But we pray that as we continue to develop a sensitivity to Holy Spirit within us, we develop a courage to partner in whatever kingdom work we are called into. And we pray for the mending of what we may harm along the way and that even our mistakes would bring Glory to God in the end.
Thank you Holy Spirit for partnering with ill-equipped humans like us. The love, grace, and patience it takes to do that does not go unnoticed.
Thank you for this beautiful devotion unto our Holy Spirit’s work in your life.
It was very encouraging to read (and will continue to pray of you this week) that the Holy Spirit would move in your midst unto the glory of God.
It brought tears to my eyes!
Love love love the work you are doing. It is a joy to see you so full of grace and loving others well.
May God’s face continue to shine upon you!
Thank you, Sierra, for your vivid descriptions, humility, faithfulness and inspirational message of listening to the Holy Spirit. May God continue to Bless you and your team.
